Planet-Friendly Practices in Singapore’s Coworking Spaces

At workbuddy, we’re happy to see more coworking spaces in Singapore incorporating eco-friendly practices in different ways. Whether their focus is on reducing waste and energy consumption, or recycling and upcycling, or on putting the spotlight on sustainability with discussions and events, it’s encouraging to see this trend going in the right direction.

Here are some sustainable co-working spaces in Singapore that we highly recommend for their planet-friendly practices.

The Work Boulevard - Tanjong Pagar

79 Anson Road, Level 21, Tanjong Pagar.

Newly opened in June, The Work Boulevard in Tanjong Pagar is a welcoming space with a light-filled lounge, stylish coffee bar with stunning views, and a friendly team. The Work Boulevard makes it a point to prioritise the planet and is committed to making sustainable living habits like recycling more visible and accessible for all.

One of the most striking features of this space is the bespoke furniture in the coworking lounge, which is actually made of recycled chopsticks. The Work Boulevard has partnered with Chop Value to create beautiful, sold wood office furniture  - from the hotdesks to meeting room tables, and even accessories, an estimated 500,000 chopsticks have found new life and  655,000g of carbon has been stored.

O2Work

331 North Bridge Road, Odeon Towers  | 16 Collyer Quay, Income@Raffles.

O2Work is one of the first coworking spaces in Singapore designed specifically with the environment in mind. The first thing you’ll notice about this space are the plants. They’ve built a three-dimensional eco-system of plants, not only for cleaner air but also for the mental health of their members. It feels like a green sanctuary in the middle of the city.

They’ve used natural elements throughout the space, and much of the furniture is made from refurbished materials. The space is also equipped with energy-efficient lighting. One of the goals of O2Work is to bring eco-conscious members together to support each other in their environmental projects.

The Executive Centre

At The Executive Centre, they believe success and sustainability go hand-in-hand. They fulfil their ESG values in three main ways: firstly, their spaces are designed to be highly energy efficient, with facilities made of sustainable materials and operations designed to lower their carbon footprint.

Secondly, they offer Sustainability-As-A-Service, providing members with information and advice on corporate sustainability. And thirdly, they hold educational events and discussions for members centred on how everyone can make their businesses more green.

The Great Room - Afro Asia

63 Robinson Rd, Level 6, 7 and 8.

The Great Room, Afro Asia, houses the ESG Impact Hub, the government’s latest move to promote green finance and an ESG ecosystem. Launched by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), the ESG Impact Hub is designed to accelerate solutions tackling sustainability-related challenges.

The hub has accelerator programmes that provide resources, mentorship, and network support to boost innovative ESG FinTech solutions in Singapore and build up a vibrant ESG ecosystem.
